About St Albans

The Historic City of St Albans, dating back over 2000 years to its Roman Settlement origin, contains many fine buildings of the period and together with its 100 acres of parklands and lakes, makes it a most desirable location.

By day the charming old streets are packed with fashionable, specialist shops mixing contemporary living with more traditional outlets, including markets, cafes and restaurants, as well as the usual excellent high street stores and super markets.

Evenings come alive, with a multitude of bars, pubs and restaurants of all descriptions and origins catering for a wide taste and ethnic mix.

Leisure activities abound, with excellent golf courses, fitness centres, theatres, an art centre and museum, as well as the aforementioned parkland facilities.

The local educational facilities are excellent and contain some of the top performing state and  renowned private sector schooling.

For those tempted by the sights and sounds of nearby London, St Albans City with its mainline connections to the city and St Pancras Eurostar service, offer an alternative to driving. However, the capital city is just 20-30 minutes journey via the M1, A1 and M25, with Heathrow, Gatwick, Luton and Stanstead airports easily accessed via the motorway network, and Luton and Gatwick are served by a direct train and Bus service form St Albans.
