What's on in St Albans for the rest of 2019

There’s always so much to do and see in St Albans, and as we head into autumn we thought we’d pick out some of the best upcoming events for you to put in your diary for the rest of the year.

October

George Street Gin & Jazz: October 4th

As part of the St Albans Food & Drink Festival, the George Street Gin & Jazz event returns for the third year. Enjoy bars and restaurants serving up delicious cocktails along with a music stage to create a unique and fun atmosphere for the night.

Flagship Wines - Wine Fair 2019: October 18th

Almost 80 wines will be on show, showcasing the very best in ports, champagnes, wines, Madeira’s and gins. Each table will be hosted by a UK agent or winemaker with in-depth knowledge. There’ll also be a fun draw and other activities to make this a night to remember.

Doctor Who – A Voyage in Space and Time: October 31st

Doctor Who expert, Frank Danes, will lead a celebration of the historic TV show that has now been on air for 55 years. It will cover its rich history, historic monsters and storylines, as well as photo opportunities with some of the most memorable characters – including two real-life Daleks.

Santa's Post Office: November 14th

Running from November 14 to December 23 will be Santa’s Post Office at Christopher Place Shopping Centre. Children can enter into a magical world where they can write their own letter before watching it make an enchanted trip to Lapland.

St Albans Symphony Orchestra: Concerts for Children: November 17th

This is a great opportunity for kids to dress up as super-heroes, princesses, monsters or anything else and have fun with large scale sounds of a symphony orchestra. As well as accompanying a musical adventure story, children will be able to meet the musicians during the interval and try out some of their instruments too.

St Albans Christmas lights switch-on: November 17th

More than 12,000 people are expected to attend this year’s big switch-on event in St Albans. Festivities will include live music, plenty of food and drink, gift stalls, Santa’s Grotto and a funfair.

Stand Up Comedy Night brought to you by HatsOffComedy Club: November 22nd

There’s no better way to relax after a long day at work than by having a good laugh. This Stand Up Comedy Night will feature four top acts who regularly feature in the TV and international comedy circuit, each bringing their hilarious views on life and more to St Albans.

Harpenden Christmas Carnival: November 24th

The Harpenden Christmas Carnival returns once more to start the countdown for one of the best periods of the year. Festivities include Santa’s Grotto, stilt-walkers, Henry Harris Funfair, walk about entertainment, a main stage and a highly-anticipated procession along Sun Lane, down the High street and up Vaughan Road.

Redbourn Christmas Market: December 1st

The Redburn Christmas Market returns to St Albans for its 8th year, with over 100 stalls, seasonal music, yule raffle and, of course, Santa’s Grotto. There will also be plenty of delicious food and drink, as well as gifts, products and wonderful seasonal treats.
